Study at GS SMRE
A doctorate is a form of training in and through research, which provides an opportunity to gain professional research experience
As a candidate, you must have a master's degree or equivalent. You apply for a thesis project in agreement with your thesis supervisor, who will supervise you, within a research laboratory and a doctoral school
Joining the ED SMRE to pursue a doctorate enables you to gain 3 years of research experience in the fields of Chemistry, Physics, Earth and Universe Sciences, the Environment and Food Biotechnology
For you, as a doctoral candidate, this is a significant editorial exercise that requires a great deal of research and long-term investment. It involves conducting personal and original research in the form of a thesis and then giving a public presentation (the thesis defence). It showcases your qualities, originality and ability to popularise science
Doctoral training enables students to acquire high-level scientific and professional skills. This is why the doctorate was recently included in the National Register of Professional Certification (RNCP)
Working on the thesis and attending seminars and training courses offered by the school, labs, and Doctoral College of the University of Lille help acquire these skills
The Thesis Charter common to the 7 Doctoral Schools of the University of Lille and the Individual Training Agreement (CIF) are the tools you can use to define and execute the necessary steps to accomplish your professional project. Your thesis supervisor will assist you in this process. The CIF can be reviewed annually to consider changes in your skills and goals
Your portfolio of skills will grow as you attend seminars and training courses
